How Does Rain Run Off Of A Flat Roof?

The Term ‘flat roof’ does not mean the roof is perfectly flat, most flat roofs have falls built in to the roof to guide rain water to the outlets or gutting. Some roofs are perfectly flat due to being built by a builder with no roofing experience, This problem can be solved with tapered insulation(insulation that creates a fall) or timber furring pieces.

Do I need Planning Permission To Turn My Flat Roof Into A Garden?

A roof garden does not need planning permission if it is already used as a terrace area where as planning permission is needed  on new builds or conversions as it could breach privacy laws.
